Same Old Lang Syne

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

1) This week's song is the tale of an accidental holiday encounter between former lovers. (Hear it here.) They sit in her car and spend hours catching up, then she gives him a chaste kiss and they never see one another again. Is there a past love who still has a special spot in your heart, despite the years or the miles since your relationship?

2) This week's song includes a play on the traditional Scottish song, "Auld Lang Syne." Have you ever visited Scotland?

3) Mother Winters has long told Sam that if she has a glass of water for every glass of champagne she drinks on New Year's Eve, she'll feel better on New Year's Day. Do you have a favorite hangover prevention tip or cure?

4) Do you like champagne?

6) This year at midnight, Crazy Sam will kiss the nose of her puppy, Chico. Will you be kissing anyone when the clock strikes 12?

6) The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy was the runaway publishing phenomenon of 2012. It was so successful that the publisher, Random House, was able to give its employees massive bonuses this year. Have you read it?

7) Year-end is a time for newspapers, magazines and websites to run lists. According to Askmen.com, Jennifer Lawrence of The Hunger Games is the at the of the year's "Most Desirable Woman" list. People magazine has declared Channing Tatum "The Sexiest Man Alive -- 2012." Do either of these two set your pulse racing? If not, who is your celebrity crush?

8) Pasadena, California, is known for hosting the traditional Rose Parade. It begins at 8:00 AM on January 1, so the people who watch it live must be there very early. Does the thought of getting up and dressed to sit in the California sun, bright and early on New Year's morning appeal, to you?

9) Sometimes aches and pains that aren't serious can still really hurt. For example, Sam just dropped a can of tomato paste on her foot and the little red mark it left is making her crazy! Are you suffering through a bump or bruise or cut right now?

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. SATURDAY 9: HAPPY HOLIDAYS

1. As you can see, Sam loved giving her annual wish list to Santa. Yet some children are reluctant to climb into Jolly Old St. Nick's lap. Did you enjoy the tradition or were you shy? 2. Are you currently on the Naughty or Nice list? How did you get there?

3. Did you ship any gifts to friends and family this year? If so, which one traveled the farthest?

4. Did you buy yourself a gift this year?

5. What's your favorite holiday-themed movie?

6. Thinking of movies, Christmas is lucrative for Hollywood. Have you ever gone to a movie theater on Christmas Day?

7. Have you ever suffered an embarrassing moment at the company Christmas party?

8. What's your favorite beverage in cold weather?

9. What will you remember most about 2012?

Beer Barrel Polka

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

SPECIAL NOTE: Recently Kwizgiver responded to a Saturday 9 question by saying that polka music would make her run in the other direction. This got Sam thinking ... no one ever builds memes around polka music. And so, with apologies to Kwizgiver --

1) Have you ever danced the polka?

2) Frankie Yankovic was a stellar accordion player. What instrument have you mastered, or would like to learn?

3) When Frankie died in 1998, his obituary proclaimed him as "America's Polka King." Lucille Ball was "The Queen of Comedy" and Michael Jackson was "The King of Pop." What royal title do you deserve?

4) Do you like light beer?

5) In 1901, daredevil Annie Taylor successfully went over Niagara Falls in a barrel. She was badly bruised but otherwise fine. How much money would it take for you do to do something that dangerous?

6) When was the last time you visited a pet store?

7) What's your favorite salad dressing?

8)  Sam Winters is crazy about her smart phone. She uses it to take pictures, record videos, listen to tunes, answer emails and surf the net and, oh yeah, she even uses it to make calls. How indispensable is your mobile phone in your day-to-day life?

9) "Kocham ciÄ™" is "I love you" in Polish. Can you say "I love you" in a language other than English (and Polish)?

Bud's Last Stand: But Sat-9 Will Go On

Hi! This is going to be a wrap for this version or edition of Saturday 9. A woman named Lola Harrington penned "Saturday 8" when I started the WTIT Blog in 2006. It had been handed down and I believe she was the blog's third author. By the time I found it, there were three or four players a week. When it ended I felt this void. I tried to find another decent Saturday meme, what Patrick does is fine, but it didn’t work for me. So, I decided to do it myself. I found playing the meme just as good, since I just stole the nine questions from memes everywhere.

I felt WTIT: The Blog had given me such a wise ass reputation, that I need an “alias” to pen this. I got the rights to the picture that we’ve know as “Crazy Sam Winters” and we were off! No one knew and the meme had fifty players a week, soon enough. Even my own girlfriend (of the time) didn’t know. She once accused Sam of “coming on to me”. (Bright, she wasn’t.) I will miss Sam. I felt I channeled her for the longest time. Even the whole “Just a Silly Meme” came to me from her. But wait...Sam will go on!

We displayed this picture of "Sam" every Christmas.
When I posted this, no one had offered to take it over. But, today we've had several offers & we will sort it out. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT Sat-9 will go on! And it looks like Samantha will continue to host! I couldn't be happier.

My own blog ended last week If you have not read my last post, do me a favor and stop by, read it and leave a comment before I fade completely away by clicking here. Last night, was my stag party. (Kathy & I wed on the 20th!) We got the WTIT “band” together and we recorded comedy. WTIT was the reason I entered the blogosphere. The WTIT.net website had this “blog” thing. I got hooked. But now WTIT is recording a lot again. I can’t do both. So I’m leaving. But, I'm sure this blog will be in good hands!

Thank YOU for stopping by each week. Join the new author next week. It’s been my pleasure.

Peace & love!

Bud

Nobody Knows You When You're Down & Out

 All Good Things..

Soon, we are coming to a close.

Hi, I’m Bud. I’ve authored both Saturday 9 and Sunday Stealing since 2007. It has been both an honor and a blast. But as a lot of bloggers have, I feel it is time to move on. My own blog will change its function (a fancy way of saying “reorganized but no new posts") and I will mosey toward other projects. I want to work more on a book and WTIT recordings. Something has to give and soon it will be this.

If you have an interest in writing and taking over either of these memes, contact me. It would be a “rent to own” situation. I gave away a blog some years ago and disliked a lot of what it became. I’d rather Saturday 9 & Sunday Stealing close on a high note than continue a shell of what they are. The reason we will keep posting for a bit would be to allow a new writer to keep our players.

You can reach me at bud9man@gmail.com

We will be around for a few more weeks. We thank you for both your loyality and support.

Bud

Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Do You Want to Dance

1. When was the last time that you danced in public?

2. Tell us about one of your closest friends.

3. What is the most that you have ever lost?

4. What was the last thing that you have done to help a neighbor?

5. It’s election season. What do you think the priorities of the United States really should be?

6. What was the last severe weather situation that you and your neighbors endured?

7. Have you been or are you a vegetarian? Thoughts?

8. If you had a wish for your future, what would it be?

9. Who just doesn’t get it?

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend! (255: chels)
